Dan Brennan has been delivering software solutions that have shaped the financial securities marketplace for more than thirty-five years. Starting as a software developer at a computer timesharing firm, he successfully led a team to design and create the clearing system for Trans-Canada Options (now CDCC), providing newly-integrated options clearing for each of the then Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver exchanges. He would subsequently manage the creation of Reuters’ real-time equity order management system, CXTrader, which replaced the TSX’ CATS and for nearly ten years managed equity order traffic for the majority of Canadian brokerage firms. Dan has managed regulatory programs at large financial institutions ensuring successful compliance with NI 24-101 (“Trade Matching”) and NI 31-103 (“CRM2”). He has designed and delivered several trade processing and settlement reconciliation systems and led the launch of Canada’s first solution to provide Wealth Management advisors the ability to execute MFDA/AMF client ETF trades directly through exchanges. He has held several senior business and technology posts with data vendors, software firms, a bond exchange and a financial data services provider. For the last eighteen years, Dan has directed his own consulting firm providing services for several industry organizations including CIBC, Scotiabank, RBC DS, BMO Capital Markets, B2B Bank, Fidelity Investments Canada, TSX Datalinx, Standard & Poors and Bell Capital Markets. He has been an invited speaker at industry conferences and created Technobility’s webinar on Technical Debt within the financial industry.
